At Elementary & Middle Schools

  • Activities in the new Shenandoah Elementary STEM makerspace

  • Medina City Schools, Buckeye Local School District, and others, explored Hour of Code

  • Integrating technology into a music class at Alfred A. Benesch School

  • Benjamin Logan Middle School: Handed out stickers, checked out videos & online resources, talked about careers

  • Various schools did STEM activities from the DriveOhio Educator Toolkit

  • CoolTechGirls did a STEM activity (Columbus)

  • Tech Week at Bolton Middle School

  • Ridgeview Middle School: micro:bit projects

  • Coldwater High School FIRST Tech Challenge Team 12802 handed out stickers to students in grades 1-4 and did a sustainability group challenge (Facebook event)

  • Columbus City Schools students learned about multi-cultural influences of technology

  • Aiken HS (Cincinnati Public Schools) computer science students taught elementary students in the Girls Who Code club about how to build apps

  • Hour of Code, Sphero robots, and more at the Elgin Local Schools Digital Media Center

  • Montgomery County Educational Service Center - MCESC celebrated district wide

  • Licking Heights Elementary School students created bots and went on a technology hunt

  • Bio-Med Science Academy (Rootstown) learned how to create 3D games

  • Laurel School (Shaker Heights) students dropped into the Collaboratory to test MR headsets and make robots dance

At High Schools

  • North Olmsted High School did AI activities in coding class

  • Hands-on activities like programming an app, PC assembly/disassembly, and cracking a cybersecurity code at Vinton County High School

  • The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities visited several schools and did a show and tell about how technologies help people with disabilities gain independence

  • Cincinnati Public Schools highlighted the technology in the building, such as a podcast studio and creative lab

  • Sycamore Junior High: a STEAM activity

  • Tech advancement education at East Liverpool City Schools

  • Columbus Downtown High School students learned some of the history of the field

  • Mini lessons on tech careers and resources at Thurgood Marshall STEM High School

  • The Educational Service Center of Central Ohio visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital (to talk about tech internships) and Canal Winchester HS (flying drones and coding bots)

  • Stow-Munroe Falls High School students ate tech day cookies

  • Canton City Schools computer science students learned Python

  • Hudson City Schools had in-class discussions about tech

  • Status Solutions visited Westerville North High School to talk about wearable technology

Field Trips

  • Hands-on activities, hearing from professionals at the Ohio Aerospace Institute in Cleveland

  • Visits to the Ohio Supercomputer Center (Columbus) by Canal Winchester High School and others

  • Students from local career centers heard about IT programs at Marion Technical College

  • Computer Science & I.T. Preview Day at Lorain County Community College: Faculty led hands-on breakout sessions, tours, and demonstrations

  • Hilliard City School District students created a take-home project at augustwenty

  • Valley View High School had a tour and job shadow day at Beta Technologies, an aerospace manufacturer in Springfield

  • Learning about robots and drones at DigitalC (Cleveland)

  • Students made a field trip to iSPACE (Cincinnati)

  • Shawnee State University hosted an open house of the Kricker Innovation Hub (in partnership with Verizon): middle school students interacted with a variety of devices (VR goggles, robots, Merge Cubes)
